(DC, 20 July, 2010)
One of the few bright spots in a season of misery for DC United has been the emergence of 17-year old Andy Najar.
United's president Kevin Payne said: "As an organization we have tons of experience with very young players. Eventually we're bound to get it right."
"Right?"
Freddy Adu, United's previous great hope enthused, "Hey, I had my best years in DC. I even started occasionally. Yeah, that was awesome."
Bobby Convey, now a servicable journeyman midfielder for San Jose said, "DC turned me into what I am today: a servicable journeyman midfielder for San Jose."
Once and soon to be Baltimorean Santino Quaranta, the hope of the team as a 17-year old and now a washed-up former drug addict and midfielder said,
"I've been told that DC was great for me as a kid, but frankly I can't remember a damn thing from 2003 to 2009. I got a bunch of tattoos and a kid though!"
If Najar continues his development as expected, he should be fully dependent on chemicals by 2011, have his first child by 2012,
be picked up via waivers by the Red Bulls by 2013 and start several of the US's World Cup matches in 2014.
